Roundtable (Zadankai)
Riko: “Tomorrow, it’s a tag match with Arisa-san against the first-time pairing of Madeline-san and Honori-san, so let’s definitely combine our strength and win!”
Kirari Wakana: “I beat Riko today, so tomorrow I’m going to team up with Fujimoto-san and take down Bad Butts!”
Saito: “Tomorrow isn’t Ice Ribbon, but I’ll fight against a big opponent with everything I’ve got.”
Madeline: “Tomorrow, it’ll be two super fresh girls, Kirari-chan and Riko-chan… huh?” (Arisa Shinose complains: “It’s Arisa, not Kirari!”) “It was Arisa! Sorry! I got it all mixed up, but I’ll do my best as the freshest one there.”
Non Toraga: “I fought a scary person today, and I’ll fight a scary person tomorrow. Please take care of me.”
Yappy: “Were you scared today?” (asking Toraga) “But you know, once you’re in the ring, you just have to do it! Don’t wimp out—it’s scary, but do it!”
Totoro Satsuki: “Tomorrow is a singles match against Sada. My beloved Rina Yamashita and Yuna Manase. There are plenty of cool female wrestlers who go toe-to-toe with the men. I respect them. I admire them. But I don’t want to become them. I’m going on a journey to find my own ideal of what a pro wrestler is.”
Tsukasa Fujimoto: “Before our entrance, Yuuka said to me, ‘We haven’t had a Zadankai in a while. I want to do one,’ and while I was saying, ‘I want to do one too,’ she just suddenly started one. That’s so like her. I think that kind of reckless (tonpachi) side of her is good. Please feel free to do as you like. Today was my first time fighting Non Toraga. I’ve been doing this ‘Tsukasa Fujimoto First-Time Series’—last time it was Miria Koga, today was Non, and tomorrow is Ancham. It’s a bit surprising that I’ve never faced Ancham before, but I’m really looking forward to it. I’ve heard rumors that they’re a very bad duo, so I’m planning to go as a ‘Bad Bad Tsukka’ myself.”
Arisa Shinose: “I have a lot I want to say, but since Madeline-san got my name wrong, I’m going to beat her to a pulp tomorrow. Be prepared!”
Ancham: “Tomorrow is the first time for Tsukka-san and Ancham. And the first time for B.B. (Bad Butts). You’re going to feel firsthand this team that formed while you were away!”
Kaho Matsushita: “Yuuka-san, you said ‘Yuu-Kaho got our second consecutive win,’ but it’s only two. It’s just a streak of two so far. I’m a woman who is very particular about her partners, so I can’t just lightly say ‘sure,’ but well, I thought it was kind of nice. Tomorrow is a tag match against Yoneyama-san and the Hiiro Sisters, and ever since I became champion, I haven’t fought kids very much lately. I think my skills are truly tested when fighting kids, so I want to properly show you Kaho Matsushita tomorrow.”
Yuuka: “When I had that singles title match with Kaho-chan, I thought from the bottom of my heart, ‘Ah, I can’t beat this person. I’m really glad this person is the champion.’ I’m bad on the mic and don’t think ahead. But having Kaho-chan next to me is super convenient because she handles the mic and pulls me along. So, let’s work hard and aim for the tag belts. As for Non Toraga-chan tomorrow, I’ll pull out her fangs and turn her into a cat, so just wait.”
Finally, Yuuka closed the show with “Pro Wrestling de Happy! Ice Ribbon!”
Translator’s Notes
- Warehouse Attack (Monooki Kougeki): A signature spot, heavily popularized by Totoro Satsuki, where an opponent is forcefully backed into a corner stack or piled under assorted items. Madeline pays homage to this move during her match.
- Tonpachi: A common Japanese professional wrestling slang term derived from the phrase for someone who goes off the rails or acts unpredictably without regard for consequences (reckless, unorthodox, or hot-headed). Fujimoto uses it affectionately here to describe Yuuka’s impulsive decision to start the Zadankai.
- Mochi-tsuki: Used here as an adjective to describe the double-team hip attack; it refers to the rhythmic, back-and-forth motion used in traditional Japanese rice pounding.
- B.B. (Bad Butts): A unit referenced during the roundtable, consisting of the “bad duo” that Tsukasa Fujimoto plans to confront.
- Zadankai: The traditional post-match roundtable promo segment standard to Ice Ribbon events, where the roster sits in the ring and discusses the show or future storylines.
- Pro Wrestling de Happy!: is Ice Ribbon’s official catchphrase. The Japanese particle de (で) indicates means or method, translating roughly to “Find happiness through pro wrestling!” or “Be happy with pro wrestling!”
