Everyone! Friday is finally here ˙³˙ )ノ” Yahoo
On September 5th at the Michinoku Pro Wrestling Kasukabe show, Kakeru Hosonuma successfully made his debut!! Please give him lots of support going forward!
So, as for what MIRAI has been up to this week… On Sunday the 6th, I helped out at a food booth (Bero~ya) at a darts tournament in Sendai. Like a so-called poster girl?! Lol I was so happy that some people actually knew who MIRAI was!!
On Monday the 7th, President Jinsei and I went to Kamaishi for some promotional work. I forgot my business cards… what a blunder.
Tuesday the 8th was my chance to take my time writing this diary!! …or so I thought, but I spent the vast majority of the time with my eyes closed, completely passed out… Well, we all need days like that, right! In the evening, President Jinsei treated me to a delicious dinner. We even had a little strategy meeting ( ˶ー̀֊ー́ )✧
Wednesday the 9th was a press conference. Right this very second, I’m writing this column on the Shinkansen heading from Morioka to Tokyo!! I have five matches over the next four days starting tomorrow, so if I don’t finish this today, I’m in serious trouble ( ;꒪⌓꒪;)
By the way, I also just updated my X (Twitter) for the first time in about three days…!! I tweeted three things all at once! ♡ (Sorry for the slow updates…)
I bet what everyone is most curious about regarding MIRAI lately is the “November 2nd Shinobu Kandori 40th Anniversary Kanadevia Hall Show.” Slapping Shinobu Kandori at that press conference takes an unbelievable amount of courage, and before I knew it, I had done it… Even I think to myself, “What a crazy girl!” lol
Believe it or not, when I first heard about this match card, I was terrified, you know? But President Jinsei told me something. “You’ve made it to the point where they are booking you in a match like this. That’s because of all the hard work MIRAI has put in. Now, what can you leave behind here? That’s what matters.” I can’t afford to be scared. This is nothing but a huge opportunity. I’ve started building confidence that I can leave my mark in the ring, but I want to leave that mark with tons of people watching. I want a lot of people to come watch the show on the day of the event. Just as I was thinking that, I heard there was going to be a press conference.
…This is it!!
I’m not the best at press conferences, but I had prepared the right words to confront Shinobu Kandori. Since the day of that press conference, my fighting switch has been flipped to ON.
…But, she was just sitting there smiling! The gentle Shinobu Kandori was right there. I thought, “That’s not right!” The same Shinobu Kandori who can get so furiously angry just because there aren’t any bento boxes was sitting there smiling. This isn’t the Shinobu Kandori that a fully-switched-ON MIRAI is looking for. It has to be the Shinobu Kandori who is overflowing with anger and terror. The moment I thought that, I lunged at her, and my hands just moved on their own…
And I didn’t say a single one of those words I thought so hard about beforehand… lol
But as far as the press conference goes, all’s well that ends well, right!? It looks like I’m going to get to fight the furiously angry and terrifying Shinobu Kandori, so my dopamine is absolutely surging!!!!! I truly don’t want to lose to anyone, so my antennas were on high alert during the press conference too!! Just when I thought she was stepping in to stop MIRAI and Shinobu Kandori from going at it, Sareee stood right in front of MIRAI and started talking directly to Kandori. Hey, you’re blocking my camera angle right there!! It’s like MIRAI doesn’t even exist now?! (↑ My inner voice)
And Chihiro Hashimoto saying that MIRAI and Sareee’s outfits were plain. That’s just because you’re always way too flashy!! I mean, I’ll admit she’s stylish. But it made Sareee and I stare at each other for a second… (↑ My inner voice)
I treat these press conferences as a crucial exposure opportunity for our important Michinoku sponsors, so making sure I wear a polo shirt or jersey to every presser is something I’m very particular about! ( -˘ -˘) And then there’s Shinobu Kandori. The slap she gave me back a split second later hurt way too much, you bastard!! Seriously, it hurt so incredibly bad, okay?!!?! (↑ My inner voice)
And then, a word from President Jinsei, who watched the press conference footage. “You can’t go hitting a grand senior like that.” …( ゚д゚)
It was a press conference that stirred up a lot of different emotions within myself, so I’m sure something definitely resonated with the fans watching, too.
Please come to the venue and fight alongside me.
Also, after watching this press conference, I saw a lot of you bringing up the names of Inoki-san and Fujinami-san.
It might have looked like a similar picture, but that is that, and this is this. They are completely different things, but… The greater the impact you leave, the more it becomes history, passed down and spoken about by future generations. I believe that truth is constant, and I respect Shinobu Kandori as a wrestler who has continually created that kind of history up until now. I have a strong desire to leave many more massive impacts of my own and become a leading figure in creating history. So, all that’s left is the day of the show. I’m going to leave a firm impact, get the result, and show everyone that, “MIRAI is a force in today’s pro-wrestling world.” That’s what I want to captivate people with.
Well then, it’s about time to finish up Part 2.
I’ve arrived at the building where today’s press conference is being held, anyway.
…Hm?
There’s no one on any of the floors…
“Thanks for your hard work.
I’m lost and I don’t know what floor we’re on…!!”
When I messaged them that, I got a reply:
“Is there something going on today!?
Did you perhaps get the day of the press conference wrong!?”
…Yep, I completely blew it.
Think I’ll do a little shopping and head home~ (¯∇¯;)
Well then, see ya, please read again next week too~ ´ω`)ノ
Translator’s Notes
- (↑ My inner voice): A translation of the phrase “(↑心の声)” (kokoro no koe). This is a common comedic formatting trope used in Japanese blogs and manga to indicate that the preceding sentence—pointed to by the up arrow—was purely an internal monologue. MIRAI uses this playfully to clarify that she was screaming on the inside while trying to keep her composure at the press conference, rather than actually yelling these complaints out loud.
Tamakome (たまこめ): A colloquial contraction of “Tamashii komete” (魂込めて), meaning “putting my soul into it.” MIRAI uses this phrase heavily as a personal catchphrase in promos, so leaving it romanized preserves her branding. - President Jinsei (人生社長): Refers to Michinoku Pro Wrestling legend and executive Jinsei Shinzaki. Translated strictly as a proper noun to adhere to the glossary constraints.
- Bento Box Incident: MIRAI’s comment about Kandori getting angry over a lack of bento boxes references a legendary piece of joshi puroresu lore where Kandori famously lost her temper backstage because catering had not provided meals for the roster.
- Grand Senior (大先輩 / Dai-senpai): Used by Jinsei Shinzaki to convey Kandori’s near-untouchable, highly respected veteran status in the Japanese wrestling hierarchy, which makes MIRAI slapping her an extreme breach of traditional etiquette.
- Inoki-san and Fujinami-san: Refers to Antonio Inoki and Tatsumi Fujinami. Fans were comparing MIRAI’s sudden display of defiance against a legendary veteran to famous incidents in New Japan Pro-Wrestling history, where Fujinami confronted his mentor Inoki (often involving sudden strikes or dramatic acts of insubordination) to assert his own era.
- “Ndeba… yonde kero ganse” (んでば、来週も読んでけどがんせ~): MIRAI leans heavily into a thick, colloquial Tohoku (Iwate prefecture) regional dialect here to sign off warmly. It translates to a cheerful, country-accented “Well then, please read again next week!”
