Ahead of forming a special trio at the Ito Dojo-produced “Kaoru Ito 37th Anniversary Tournament” (September 10 at Shinjuku FACE), Sareee and Takumi Iroha of the tag team Spark Rush, alongside Natsupoi, held an “impromptu girls’ night out.”

Preparing to face the unlikely trio of Ito, Chi Chi, and Fuwa-chan, the three gathered for a pep rally on a certain day in September at the Yakinikuya Sakai Shinjuku Kabukicho branch in Tokyo. Before the showdown with her mentor, Sareee flashed a beaming smile while putting on her paper apron, saying, “It feels like a dream to team up with the two people I trust the most on Ito-san’s special day. I’m incredibly excited.”

Natsupoi, who is slated to retire in January of next year, cross-trained at Diana—where Sareee was affiliated at the time—during her Actwres girl’Z days, and received direct guidance from Ito. “Ito-san is my mentor; she taught me everything there is to know about pro wrestling,” Natsupoi passionately explained while stuffing her cheeks with premium beef tongue. “Booking this match for her anniversary event really makes me feel Ito-san’s love.”

According to the two members of Spark Rush, which was formed in May of last year, Ito had been telling them for a long time, “Takumi and Sareee are a great fit. If you’re going to form a tag team, you two are absolutely perfect for it.” Grilling some harami (skirt steak), Iroha also expressed her gratitude to their benefactor: “If it weren’t for Ito-san’s advice, we might never have teamed up.”

Their opposing team features Chi Chi, who is rapidly developing under her moniker “The Fighting Barbie Doll,” alongside Fuwa-chan, who is returning from her overseas excursion. When Iroha emphasized, “For us, the real threat is Ito-san. If we take that foot stomp, we’re in huge trouble!” Natsupoi nodded in agreement while mixing her stone-grilled ice cream. “No kidding! I’ve been stomped by her about twice before, and I felt like my internal organs popped out.”

Sareee then took it upon herself to step up as the leader, declaring, “The three of us have never teamed together before, but we definitely have more cohesion than they do. I’ll bring us together!” before generously footing the entire bill for the group.

Translator’s Notes:

  • Overseas Excursion (海外武者修行明け): Translated from kaigai musha shugyō (literally “overseas warrior training”). “Excursion” is the standard English localization used in puroresu to describe a rookie or young wrestler being sent abroad to gain experience and develop their persona.
  • Tag Team vs. Trio: The original Japanese text frequently uses “tag” (タッグ) as a catch-all term for any multi-person team (including 3-on-3 matches). I localized this to “trio” when referring to the 6-woman teams to make the match format clearer to an English-speaking audience.
  • Paper Apron (紙エプロン): It is customary for Japanese yakiniku (Korean barbecue-style) restaurants to provide disposable paper aprons to customers to protect their clothing from sizzling grease and sauce.
  • Stone Ice (ストーンアイス): Refers to a popular dessert often served at Japanese yakiniku restaurants, where ice cream and mix-ins are kneaded together on a frozen stone slab (similar to the Cold Stone Creamery method) directly at the table.
  • Foot Stomp: Kaoru Ito is legendary in joshi puroresu for her devastating diving double foot stomp from the top rope, which is what Iroha and Natsupoi are fearfully referencing.
